whoa

lamphoera:

have a couple thoughts about tumblr community labels:

  • it’s unclear to me from the announcement post what the implications on the nsfw policy are. is porn, as in 100% Definitely Explicit There Is Sex, still not allowed, or is it fully allowed now under label?
  • i don’t see a reason why there’s no option to spoiler any post you make for any reason
  • i think having individually toggleable content filter options (instead of only On or only toggleable as a blanket) with multiple modes makes the content system better than most other sites rn, but i think having a system for custom topics in some way would not only be helpful but is imperative. even just having multiple modes on filtered tags/content (blur or hide) would be great

overall it seems like the content filtering system with the most practical functionality out of all the social media sites rn, but i end up as always stuck on what categories get picked as defaults and their definitions if there’s no way apply this same functionality to specific points of the categories or things that aren’t in them because it always ends up feeling like an implicit moral judgement (which having the toggles definitely does lessen here tbf)

based on the site policies being unchanged + people testing things out, it seems like explicit porn still isn’t allowed, so. i get people not wanting to see suggestive stuff but to be quite honest i’m not sure what the overarching point about “posts with sexual content” is here when the most explicit art you’re allowed to post is essentially like, idfk making out. am i really expected to tag that for it to be hidden from people by default. i hope this is a precursor to allowing porn again but i rather wouldn’t with the coy & ambiguous tone of the announcement today
