a lot of you people on this website speak pretty authoratitively all the while being less competent of an elitist than me

not sure how to explain this but i think, and first of all you couldn’t pay me to use tiktok, but it seems like a lot of people don’t understand that being against tiktok doesn’t really mean you’re actually good at… thinkiiiing??? also this isn’t about tiktok, i’m just using it as a vibes stand-in for, i dunno what you’d call it, aestheticized behavior? perceiving in cliche?? the opposite of rawdogging comprehension??? being against aestheticization (i am against aestheticization) can also be aestheticized and i feel like people end up doing that like… a lot actually. and then go circlejerk with other people on this website like also this about how the existence of the booktok community is bad (to be clear i also hate it and also this was just the first example i could think of) instead of having any independent thoughts about the environment that facilitates it because feeling better than other people for not engaging with symptomatic manifestations of a world that encourages identity through consumption is a lot easier and more fun (and i would argue also a form of creating an identity through consumption…). like as much as i will say hating is entertaining i think for example making being a “hater” your identity makes you a bad critic in as far as… it’s holding an ideal above comprehensive evaluation of the material world. or whatever. instead it being the other way around! like is that not the point??? it’s an easy pitfall so you have make sure you’re not falling into it like… constantly. you know???????????????????
