okay SO I’m going to preface this by saying that I liked the epilogues overall, even if I’m pretty conflicted on them

but I’m seeing this overarching trend of people belittling fans who didn’t like them because their faves got to suck real hard by saying, essentially, “it was pretty dumb of you to get this emotionally invested in a fictional character lol”

like, uh, that’s kind of how fiction works? sure, you can remind yourself that putting your identity too deeply into the life of a fictional character out of your control can be unhealthy, but you can’t really change the way you feel at the base of it. this is a pretty natural way to engage with fiction, and to some extent, the purpose. invalidating it because it doesn’t apply to you is kind of unrealistic
