me, for years: why doesn’t ao3 have an easy to use tag/user/work blocking system. seems basic. the existing work filtering system is kind of a hassle in practice if all you’re trying to do is avoid something without worrying about making a new search every time. there’s a huge disconnect between the way the site exists and how a lot of people use it, and at the very least it could use a lot of QoL updates.

soulmate scenarios usually bore me bc the idea of an intrinsic quality that makes people compatible across time and space doesn’t compel me but on the other hand i think soulbond/mindlink stuff fucks extremely hard bc the characters have to reconcile with an inescapable intimacy. being given closeness without the guarantee of compatibility is very interesting to me because the emotional reconciliation becomes a choice
